NFL Dreams: Time is Flying By

By Nick Hill/Special to The Call, Du Quoin Evening Call

Saturday, January 26, 2008 12:23 AM CST

Hello again to everyone in Du Quoin.

Time is really starting to fly by. Each week seems to go by faster and faster. I will be leaving on Sunday to fly to El Paso, Texas to play in the Texas vs. The Nation all-star game. Beginning on Monday we will have a week of practice and then play the game on Sat, Feb. 2. I feel fortunate to have been invited and have the opportunity to play in a Senior all-star game; it is a great opportunity to perform in front of scouts from every NFL team.

Coming from a smaller school this will give me the chance to step on the field with players from every BCS conference and show I can compete at the highest level. What many people donĂt realize about these all-star games is the week of practice (rather than the game) is the most vital in relation to my performance. Scouts and General Managers will be on the field for every practice, but by game time Saturday most of all the scouts will be gone and have already seen what they need to see.

However, performing well in the game is still very important. Another important part of the week will be interviews with scouts and General Managers. After practice there are times set aside, so that if a team wants to interview you they can. As a quarterback, interviews are really important, scouts want to see the way you handle yourself and prove to them you have what it takes to lead a team.

My agent Andy Simms will be there all week with me, talking with every team and setting up these interviews. I already have a couple interviews set up, and next week I will let everyone know what teams I have the chance to talk to. You can find out a lot about the game and see the rosters for the two teams at texasvsthenation.com. The game will be televised on CSTV on dish network or direct TV. During the game I will be wearing jersey number 10.

I hope everyone gets the chance to watch, and during the game I will probably get to play about a quarter because there are two other quarterbacks on my team and everyone gets the chance to play.

I hope everything is going well back home, and until next time.

Take care !

Nick Hill
