By Dorados Football | April 12, 2009 NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Nick Hill’s seven TD passes, five of which went to Rod Windsor, weren’t enough as the Rio Grande Valley Dorados fell to the Arkansas Twisters 77-64 in front of 3,455 at Allstate Field at Alltel Arena. Both teams traded touchdowns back and forth on the first four possessions. Arkansas scored on its fifth trip down field on a short touchdown run by Brandon Isaiah. The Twisters’ defense got the first stop of the game when Rio Grande’s fourth down pass was incomplete. Arkansas scored three plays later when Kyle Rowley found Robert Johnson for an eight yard touchdown. The extra point put Arkansas up 39-26. Arkansas’ defense got another big stop when Vegas Franklin intercepted Nick Hill’s pass at the line of scrimmage and returned it seven yards for the score. The extra point put the Twisters up 46-26. Arkansas added another touchdown right before halftime and led 53-33 at intermission. Rio Grande Valley (1-1) began the second half with another interception that eventually led to a Twisters field goal. The Twisters offense scored on every possession until mid-way through the fourth quarter and Rio Grande Valley never got any closer than 13 points. Rowley finished the game by going 19-for-33 with 200 yards and eight touchdowns. Rod Harper caught four touchdown passes to lead the Twisters. Robert Johnson and Olan Coleman caught two scores each. Rio Grande receiver Rod Winsor caught 13 passes for 133 yards and five touchdowns. Winsor’s five touchdown catches are the second most in franchise history. Hill finished with 302 passing yards and seven touchdowns. Warren, Arkansas native Bret Smith finished the game with six catches for 133 yards and two touchdown catches. Smith had several family members in attendance for the game. The Twisters begin the season by winning it’s for three games for just the second time in franchise history. Arkansas won its first three games back in 2006. The team has never started a season 4-0. The Dorados begiin the home half of their 16-game schedule on Saturday night vs. the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings.
